That's why there have been so few of them, much to the distress of us at /r/pics as well as users who want more choiceToday reddit has chosen /r/pics and a few other subs to beta-test their new image hosting service, one where you can upload pics from your computer directly on the "Submit an image" page without having to host them somewhere else first.You'll see it as a big "UPLOAD A FILE" button under the URL field. When you use this, you won't need to put in any other URL.Some of its features:Upload images (up to 20MB) and gifs (100MB) directly to Reddit when submitting a link.Click on a Reddit-hosted image from any listing (such as the frontpage, a subreddit, or userpage) and be taken directly to the conversation and comments about that image.View gifs within Reddit’s native apps with less taps and without leaving the app.Pics submitted this way will be hosted on reddit's servers at i.redd.it and will be associated with your post. In fact, if you make a mistake or change your mind, deleting your post will also delete the pic at the same time.
